About this Item

One of my favorite all-time books! And despite the fairly large print-run of 2509 copies, one that came and went so quickly I could only get one on the secondary market. Illustrated with nearly every one of its 280 pages graced with either an illustration or page-decoration it took Roy Krenkel nearly seven years to finish the book; it became his magnum opus and a book that influenced "Wandering Star" publishers when they went on to publish their lavish edition of SOLOMON KANE, illustrated by Gary Gianni. These stories are four of Howard's "battle" stories, set in the Far East during the Times of the great Khan and originally appeared in ORIENTAL STORIES and MAGIC CARPET magazines. This would be followed six years later by THE ROAD OF AZRAEL that just didn't quite work for me despite the fine paintings. One of about 700 copies either inscribed or signed by the artist at the publisher's request. Noted collector, Eric Carlson's copy inscribed to him by Roy Krenkel.About fine copy (there's always a few snags to the d.j., an inherent problem with the book). Bookseller Inventory # 307

Store Description

Who am I and Why buy from me? How many times have you ordered a book on eBay only to return it because it wasn't a first edition or in the condition stated? I'm Terence McVicker. I began collecting Fantasy & Science fiction in 1970 and opened my own brick & mortar shoppe in 1976 under the name, The Book Symposium, in Anaheim, California. I closed the shoppe long ago and since have been selling under my own name and on eBay under the moniker of epagana. I mentored for fifteen years under the noted bookman Roy A. Squires, specializing in Fantasy & Science Fiction and in my more than forty years of collecting & selling I have dealt with virtually every major bookseller in the field from Gerry de la Ree to Lloyd Currey. . . and I have learned much! I have sold to and appraised collections for the John Hay Library, Brown University's H.P. Lovecraft Collection and the Bancroft Library, University of Southern California, Berkeley's Clark Ashton Smith Collection and numerous individual clients. I worked with Ray Bradbury & Gary Gianni on Ray's last book - The Nefertiti-Tut Express which I designed and published in 2012 as The RAS PRESS. I have a forty year plus, reputation in the field for integrity, expertise and professionalism that I take great pride in: In other words, everything I sell I know to be authentic and I stake my reputation upon it. And everything sold is guaranteed to be delivered to you in the condition stated or your money back. If your shipment is damaged, then I haven't done my job! It's not the fault of the post office. And I guarantee this worldwide! Let eBay sellers better that! I look forward to having you as my client! - Terence McVicker
