Illustrated by Gustav Canton of Munich and Dusseldorf with 10 animal tail-pieces, one text illustration and 15 fine full-page tinted lithographs, including portrait frontispiece and decorated title page, by Schenck & McFarlane lithographers, Edinburgh. Bound in the original publisher's full blue ribbed cloth, a.e.g., the upper cover with stylized gilt titles and vignette, the design repeated on the lower cover in blind. Overall wear and soil with darkened edges, the cover gilt bright, front inner hinge paper cracked, binding secure, plates bright and clean.
