Description:

Vintage original 41 x 27" (105 x 69 cm.) one sheet poster, USA. John Lurie, Eszter Balint, Richard Edson, dir: Jim Jarmusch; Goldwyn. Director Jim Jarmusch's first feature is a landmark of 1980s cinema, and it introduced a kind of hipster deadpan surrealism into American moviemaking. Director Jim Jarmusch's first effort, "Permanent Vacation" (1980), was his final thesis at New York University's film school. As with the earliest films of Jean-Pierre Melville and David Lynch, he then spent four years making STRANGER THAN PARADISE, shooting as money allowed. This is one of two different styles of poster made for this film. This style captures the image of the film's three protagonists as they stand by a frozen Lake Erie in winter. Various repros of this poster turn up, and so it is valuable to know: the poster must be in black and brown (some of the repros are printed in black only) and must measure 41 x 27" (105 x 69 cm.), as there are other fakes which are printed in brown and black, but measure 40" (100cm.) and not the correct 41" (105 cm.) Unfolded, there is some minor scattered creasing, VERY GOOD+. Bookseller Inventory #
