About this Item

The first edition of Fitzgerald's eighth book, both book and dustjacket in their earliest state, with unbroken text and unbattered lips. The book is very good, lightly worn with the gilt stamping to the spine still largely intact and bright; internally, there's some foxing throughout, the endpaper features a 1926 gift inscription and a prior owner's blindstamp, and the half-title shows some soiling and the same blindstamp again. A sturdy, superior copy with less than usual wear. The jacket is less than good, with a large chip at the head of the spine and a smaller one at the heel. The jacket is, as usual, quite weak at the folds, and split where the spine meets the front panel. Most glaringly, there are stripes of pale paint along the right edge of the front panel and the left edge of the spine. The paint could be cleaned by a professional--the rest taken care of, too, if you really wished. An honest though flawed copy; and a precious jacket at only a small premium over the cost of a jacketless book. Bookseller Inventory # 000092
