Side stapled 6pp. [including wraps], mimeographed. Paper tanned, some minor loss at the edges, else very good. Almost more of a personal essay than a traditional fanzine, Kaye writes "I'm just a non-conformist [sic] fan. I like rock and roll.[sic] now don't slam this indignantly, but I just do. He also goes on to recommend reading Kerouac's 'On the Road' though "None, many of you might not want to read such so called 'trash'. Believe me, it's not trash. Just because it's the "Bible" of the beatnicks [sic] is no reason to call it trash.", and then gives a synopsis of the book with some commentary. Long before he was known as the guitarist for the Patti Smith Group, Kaye was one of thousands of science fiction fans who took to publishing their own fanzines that were traded through the mail with other like minded fans. After Obelisk and Sadistic Sphinx, Kaye went on to produce Sadistic Sphinx, Hieroglyph, and Pharaoh. an early glimpse into fandom that would eventually express itself in a legendary curatorial capacity when Kaye later compiled the legendary garage rock compilation 'Nuggets'. Scarce with no copies in OCLC, but the Lenny Kaye Science Fiction Fanzine Collection at University of Miami does have both issues.
