From the preface: "Our Holy Father, Pope Pius XII, in his Encyclical Letter 'Mediator Dei' (On the Sacred Liturgy), stresses the importance of the participation by the faithful in the Eucharistic Sacrifice. 'It is therefore desirable, Venerable Brethren, that all the faithful should be aware, that to participate in the Eucharistic Sacrifice is their chief duty and supreme dignity, and this not in an inert and negligent fashion, giving way to distractions and day-dreaming, but with such earnestness and concentration that they may be united as closely as possible with the High Priest, according to the Apostle: "Let his mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 2, 5). 'Saint Anthony Sunday and Feast day Missal' is presented to the faithful for the purpose of aiding them in understanding the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and thereby be able to participate in it more fully. The added features of this text include: the Liturgical and Ascetical division of the Mass; the more solemn Feasts of the Church; the Mass and Novena, to Saint Anthony, and a selection of prayers for the daily life of prayer. The original text was published by the Conventual Franciscan Friars at the shrine of their beloved brother in Religion, Saint Anthony of Padua. May his spirit of love and prayer assist the faithful who use this missal." Very Reverend Method C. Billy, O.F.M. Conv. Translator.
