The original containing Rilke's text and twenty-four lithographs, fifteen of them in color, by Ben Shahn, was published as a portfolio with loose sheets; it was a limited edition totalling 950 in two iterations of paper quality and Shahn signatures (original or signed on the stone; another one hundred were reserved for the artist and his collaborators,and all were numbered and signed by the artist.
