About this title

An incredible visual treat for anyone who has ever lived in, or visited the San Francisco Bay Area! From every possible vantage point in the city, Gene Wright has documented the rise of office towers and disappearance of the tiny alleys in the name of progress. In these images that show an ever-changing city, are cityscapes, architectural marvels, national landmarks and the people that bring this vibrant city to life every day. With over 125 stunning photographs, many taken with a unique, 140 degree panoramic camera, this book takes readers on a stunning visual journey through time.

Gene Wright’s photographs give a wonderful historical view of San Francisco over a 50-year period. These images will thrill anyone who has ever lived in or visited the SF Bay Area. -- San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom

Gene Wright was an imaginative photographer who captured city scenes unlike any other. A brilliant artist! -- John Larish, Eastman Kodak Co., 1969-1984
