Gilbert from his / father September 17, 1958', Glenn Gilbert's bookplate laid in loose, an inscription on the ffe by a former owner 'Wilbur F. Dales / February 23, 1893' and booksellers' pencilled notations on inside front cover, binding and edges extensively rubbed, corners bumped, edges darkened, some notes in the book, extensive in places, newspaper article laid in between pp 292 and 293, foxing the pages, hinges beginning to loosen, gold letter on spine largely faded, overall rating Fair; would interest students of the history of Sanskrit instruction and the influence of Germany over scholarship in the United States, the history of linguistics and Indo-European; hard covers are green with gold lettering stamped on the front and spine, the name of the publisher, Ginn & Company, still partially visible on the lower spine; 8vo -- 23.5 centimeters tall; xxv + 551 numbered pages.
