This is a beautiful example of this October, 1887 timetable with map. Clean blue and white paper covers with very good, unworn edges. 40 clean, tightly bound and crisp pages. 4 page edges have been very closely trimmed by the printer/binder with some single letters or edges of the lettering lacking. The inner cover is a diagram of elevations. The first 2 pages are company officers and agents, pages 3-28 are timetables, page 29 advertises "Las Vegas Hot Springs" in New Mexico and the Phoenix Hotel which is 6 miles outside Las Vegas, pages 29-38 are an "Index Of Stations" in Kansas, Colorado, Arizona, California, Texas And Indian Territory, and Mexico. Page 39 advertises "The Santa Fe Route is now running Free Tourist Sleeping Cars every day and on regular Through Trains between Kansas City, Los Angeles, Southern California" - with an engraving of an "Interior Santa Fe Tourist Sleeping Car". Page 40 is "Index of Contents". At the back is a fold-out map of "The Santa Fe Route and Connections 1887" The partially colored map is very clean and is still crisp with no tears. Printed by Rand McNally. The map is in 16 folds (2 high and 8 across). Each fold is 3-3/8 inches by 8-1/4 inches for an approximate total of 27 inches by 16-1/2 inches. The Santa Fe Route comprises (as listed on the back cover) "Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe R.R.; The Chicago, Kansas and Western Railroad; The Southern Kansas Railway; Atlantic and Pacific Railway (Western Division); California Southern Railroad; California Central Railway; Sonora Railway.
