About this Item

Blue cloth. No jacket. 560 pages including index. An English language translation of this dialogue involving twelve main characters who espouse various beliefs and philosophies. Macrobius had hoped to put his learning and reading at the disposal of his son, to provide useful information (from the introduction). Much of the historical information on various societies and cultures provided within had not been preserved elsewhere. GOOD+ condition. Minor fading to the cloth, a bit heavier to the spine. Light soiling, scuffing and edgewear. A few light scratches to the cloth on the rear panel. Page edges soiled. Slight bump and crease to a few page corners at the center of the book. Offsetting to the front endpaper. Minor scattered underlining, in pencil, to the first half of the book. Bookseller Inventory # 004568
