About the Authors

Rosemary Mosco is a science writer and artist, and she’s passionate about sharing her love for the natural world. She writes and draws the science webcomic Bird and Moon and makes the urban nature webcomic Your Wild City in collaboration with fellow First Second author Maris Wicks.

Mosco has served in communications roles for nonprofits such as Mass Audubon and NPS, written for nature publications, and led unique nature walks. She holds an MS from UVM’s Field Naturalist and Ecological Planning Program.

If she could explore any place in the solar system, Mosco would travel to Jupiter’s moon Europa. Then she’d come back home and visit her favorite nature preserves on Earth, where she'd observe all the strange creatures and think about the possibilities for life on other planets.

Jon Chad is obsessed with giant robots, screen-printing, and bookmaking. Chad has been commissioned by Cartoon Network to make artist books based on shows like Adventure Time and The Amazing World of Gumball. He is the illustrator of Science Comics: Solar System, and the author of Leo Geo, Science Comics: Volcanoes, Science Comics: The Periodic Table of Elements, and Pinball: A Graphic History of the Silver Ball. Jon is also the creator of the multi-format immersion narrative BAD MASK.
