Large hardcover in green cloth. Volume XX (May, 1880, to Oct. 1880, inclusive). 952pp. Illustrated with two frontispieces [Edgar Allen Poe and Savonarolla], and numerous half-tones. Contains dozens of articles, from pieces on such personalities as William Blake, Charles Dickens, Edgar Allen Poe, William Makepeace Thackeray, Thomas Paine, and Peter the Great, to travel highlights showcasing the Balkans, Canada, Coney Island, Mammoth Cave, and Sicily, to interesting articles on contemporary happenings, such as the growth of wood-block printing, the Philadephia Convention of 1866, the vivisection debate, and the loss of the "Oneida" community.
