About this title

The history of the Navy's Supply Branch has often been passed over for more exhilarating aspects of naval warfare such as submarine hunting or the latest marvels of naval technical engineering.

The important contribution of the men and women who make up the Supply Department is nonetheless an essential element of the Canadian Navy. It affects every soldier's ability to carry out his or her role in combat or in peacetime. Without effective logistics service people would not be transported to battle, fed their dinner, or supplied with their ammunition. Every member of the ship sees its impact on a daily basis - from food services, pay and spare parts to replacement of clothing, posting arrangements and canteen services.

This book examines the development of the Accountant, Supply and Secretariat, and Logistics Branch from the Navy's earliest days through the busy peace enforcement operations of the 1990s, up to the beginning of the twenty-first century. Along with the extensively researched and documented history the author has provided profiles of some of the support personnel whose service was outstanding, and humorous anecdotes from various contributors.

Terms of Sale:

We guarantee the condition of every book as it's described on the Abebooks web sites. If you're dissatisfied with your purchase (Incorrect Book/Not as Described/Damaged) or if the order hasn't arrived, you're eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. If you've changed your mind about a book that you've ordered, please use the Ask bookseller a question link to contact us and we'll respond within 2 business days.

Shipping Terms:

Thank you for your business. All orders are processed within 24 hours unless there are unusual or mitigating circumstances. Unless we inform you otherwise, this is also your confirmation of shipment.

Please be aware that media mail within the United States can take upwards of 7-21 days to be delivered despite the earlier or later delivery times that major internet sellers may indicate.(Shipping during the holiday season and when there is inclement weather almost always adds additional shipping time to these estimates.) Sometimes media mail can arrive in just a few days but the postal service offers no guarantees on the time required for media mail. If you have requested expedited service, you may expect to receive your order within 2-4 days.

Postal tracking and delivery confirmation is used on all orders except replacement shipments for lost orders and APOs. Media mail tracking, generally speaking, notifies the recipient and the shipper only when the package arrives in the customer's zip code-not necessarily that it has been received by the customer. Customers, however, can at least verify that the postal service has been notified of a pending pickup.

Please note that the US Postal Service picks up from our offices daily. On Saturday, we deliver directly to our local post office, so your packages are always in transit within 24-48 hours regardless of what the postal tracking might indicate on the USPS website. USPS tracking is, unfortunately, not "live" like FEDEX or UPS Tracking. The USPS is working on improving this aspect of media mail tracking. (Additionally, the postal service appears to be replacing personnel, which in our opinion may lead to additional delays in the processing of mail.)

International orders should arrive within 10-30 days depending on the country of destination. We have had some recent issues with customs delays, in some countries, due to security enhancements, so please be patient if your order seems to take longer than usual to be delivered.

This is an automated message. Should your question concern another issue, you will receive another email as soon as possible.
