A lengthy poem (elegy) inspired by the life of Thomas William Parsons, an American poet who had passed away in 1892. With references to Whitman, Emerson and other literary figures, as well as classical themes and American history. A section of notes on the work is included at the rear, along with a short biography and look at the poetry of Thomas William Parsons. Richard Hovey was an American poet, perhaps best known for his Songs from Vagabondia. GOOD condition. Moderate foxing and browning to the cloth, mostly along the spine and lower covers.
