About this title

Robert Thomson's SECRET THiNGS is a contemporary and engaging collection of short fiction, a bold and honest debut. With a cast of unusual characters and often hysterical situations, this book crosses the boundaries of gay fiction and speaks to a wide audience about the search for love, the fear of intimacy, the adoption triangle, addiction, recovery and the secrets we share but never talk about. Often ironic and always revealing, SECRET THiNGS is about the hidden aspects of everyday people looking for themselves in the lies that have altered their lives.

About the Author:

Robert Thomson's short stories have appeared in US and Canadian anthologies throughout the 1990s. His first book, Secret Things, released through his own imprint, received favorable reviews and sold well. Robert worked as a journalist and then editor of Toronto local magazine Icon, and then helmed the literary division of Canada's first glossy gay national magazine, FAB National. Need, his second collection of short stories, was to have been published in 2000, but its US distributors went bankrupt and froze the entire shipment of books in their warehouse for over two years.Since then, Thomson has worked as a disc jockey, video editor, lyricist, and screenwriter. Through the years, he has continued to document the emotional and physical lives of gay men and has begun creating a body of short films. "Last Visit" (Última visita) was nominated for Best Short at the 2011 GLBT Film Festival in Barcelona, and was based on the story "If" from his book Need. Thomson is currently preparing both Secret Things and Need for re-issue in e-book format. Secret Things in June, 2014, Need in September. Both will be in an expanded and updated format, featuring stories from the period that were omitted from the original manuscript or appeared in anthologies of that time. In December 2014, a collection of all new short fiction, Signs of Life, will be published. 2015 will see the release of his first novel, Rehab. He lives in Toronto, Canada.
