About this Item

"First Edition" stated. Author John Robert Powers appears to have operated the Powers School, New York, "where the secrets of charm originate, as attested by its charming graduates in every field of endeavor." He has signed in full to the FFE, diagonally in blue ballpoint, name only. Dust jacket "good" with some scattered browning to rear panel, small chips to head & heel of spine. This is a trade edition priced $4.50 to jacket front flap; NOT ex-library. The text block will close itself. The section of 14 hairstyle photos on glossy stock -- though perforated along spine for easy removal (presumably to show your hairdresser) -- remain intact. (To our eyes, sixty years later, the most severe among these look almost as though the poor lasses have had petrified seashells glued to their scalps.) The author acknowledges, for their generous cooperation, the Corset and Brassiere Association of America, the Cleanliness Bureau, The Fragrance Foundation, Inc., The National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association, and the Sun Glass Institute, etc. (Remember corsets? And permanent waves?) 386 pp. including index. Bookseller Inventory # 001945
