From the Author:

The chapter content for this book is as follows: Chapter 1 Secrets of the Solar System; Chapter 2 Motions in the Heavens; Chapter 3 Newton's Laws and Planetary Motion; Chapter 4 Light, Optics, and Telescopes; Chapter 5 Matter and the Study of Radiation; Chapter 6 The Earth and Moon; Chapter 7 The Terrestrial Planets; Chapter 8 The Jovian Planets; Chapter 9 Minor Bodies and the Interplanetary Medium; Chapter 10 Formation of the Solar System; Chapter 11 Radiation from the Sun; Chapter 12 The Outer Layers of the Sun; Chapter 13 The Quest for Life; and, Chapter 14 Solar System Revelations. The book is based upon an original manuscript from 1998 by Dr. John C Evans, which was to be a textbook for introductory astronomy. At one point there was a textbook manuscript developed for a one semester astronomy course by both Geller and Evans. This volume was edited, updated, completed and put into large print format by Geller. The book is dedicated to the memory of the author's brother, Richard B. Geller, who was a mathematics teacher for 43 years in New York City, 30 years at Stuyvesant High School, and who died in 2011 from metastasized malignant melanoma. As there are no photographs nor illustrations in this volume, the reader is encouraged to visit NASA webpages online if such photographs are of interest.
