The author has kept a balanced approach, avoiding confusion and misunderstanding. It is true that secularism can challenge and marginalize religions. It can become aggressive towards values believers cherish. But in our modern history secularism, when it is in harmony with human rights, has provided a space for religious freedom never known in the past. What is the best for religious freedom--a secularized society or a religious one A secular state or a religious state Which can better protect the separation of church and state For me these questions are essential.
