About this title

Synopsis:

Sense, Sex, and Sin develops a conceptual foundation for a new, dynamic ethical system of thinking originating in the practical world of experience. The book draws upon the practical activity of massage in an attempt to explore the relatively new philosophical areas of sensuality and sexuality in order to form a theoretical basis for an experientialist ethics. Strong, simple, consistent experiences that are evaluatively right and moral in nature form the basis for determining whether or not acts, events, or situations are morally right. Once a resolution experience is determined, confirmation experiences which are prompted by the resolution experience, serve to fortify and further strengthen the resolution, thus forming an individual moral determination. The moral determination 'grows' from individual to mutual, group, societal, and inter-societal levels of acceptance. This process is referred to as moralization and stands in opposition to the hierarchically determined moralities that dominate socio-economic as well as theologically-oriented ethical systems.
