About this Item
Mounted gelatin silver. Photographer's imprint and title on mount. No content on verso. Photograph measures 4 ¼ x 6 ½ and mount measures 6 ¼ x 8 ½. Mount has moderate soiling and minor chipping; photograph has moderate soiling. Overall good. This image depicts a celebration of 1908 Settlers' Day, with men and women parading down a main street on horseback. Signage can be read for the Pioneer Store and the Post Office. Soldier, Idaho was established in 1881 and was at one time the largest community on the Camas Prairie. Soldier reached peak population around 1910 but in 1911 the Oregon Short Line Railroad had bypassed the town and it slowly went into decline. Seller Inventory # 024076
