Large hardcover first edition in faux blue leather, dulled gilt titles; no dust jacket (as issued); pages clean, tight, unmarked, just a bit darkened; looks like an ordinary hardcover book on the outside, but interior binding is a metal comb; the words 'cutter detail' inked on front pastedown endpaper; ship same or next day in bubblewrap; email confirmation; standard mail takes 4-14 days. The sevolute is a new function for use in involute gear calculations. The name is a contraction of the words SEcant and inVOLUTE. The values were obtained from the general equation Sev x = Sec x - Tan x + Arc x (where x is the measure of an angle). The chief function of the sevolute is to simplify the problem of calculating 'full-radius' fillets or tips. The book consists of a short introduction and tables for angles from 0 to 90 degrees, with each table listing values in hundredths of a degree. Bookseller Inventory #
