About the Author:

Nee en 1935 a Carjac, dans le Lot, Francoise Sagan grandit a Paris. Apres son baccalaureat, elle s inscrit a la Sorbonne. C est durant l ete 1953 qu elle redige "Bonjour tristesse". Le roman est publie et connait un succes fulgurant. Elle a dix-huit ans. Elle fait la connaissance du Tout-Paris litteraire et voyage. En 1956, son deuxieme roman, "Un certain sourire", est egalement un succes. Francoise Sagan commence alors a adopter un style de vie qui fait scandale et contribuera a son mythe: casinos, boites de nuit et voitures de sport. Victime, en 1957, d un grave accident de la route, elle en gardera des sequelles qui la poussent a abuser des medicaments et de l alcool. Elle a publie une cinquantaine de romans, ecrit quelques pieces de theatre (notamment "Chateau en Suede") et participe a l ecriture de scenarios. En 1985, le prix Prince Pierre de Monaco recompense l ensemble de son uvre. Ruinee et gravement malade, elle meurt en septembre 2004.
