One thousand copies of this facsimile have been printed, of which this is Number 423. Signed in a neat ink hand by Sidney Lee, author of the Introduction and the Census of Copies. Photographed in the Bodleian Library, and printed at the University Press by Horace Hart, M. A., Printer to the University. 14.75 x 9.25 inches. Contemporary full suede, brown, much rubbed and very worn. The front board is completely detached. The hubbed spine with a reddish-brown leather label with gilt-stamped "Shakespeare 1623" and a second such label "Oxford 1902." Some suede losses along the spine. The text block remains fully intact. Deckled fore- and bottom page edges to a handsome effect. XXXV and 907 numbered pages. The facsimile pages include a title page portrait of the Bard, as well as head and tail pieces. Offsetting to the FEPs opposite the pastedowns. Lightest age-fading to the pages. Else an exceptionally clean and attractive copy. NOT ex library. Downgraded to Good Plus only on account of the poor state of the binding. Certainly worthy of custom rebinding. Also includes A Supplement. Containing a Census of Extant Copies. Published 1902. This is a string-bound paperback lacking wrappers. 14.75 x 9.25 inches. No missing pages. Numbered pages 7-45, including Introduction; and Census of perfect copies, imperfect copies, defective copies, and copies otherwise unclassed; and Index. Also with one-page Postscript. Toning to the preliminaries. Marginal loss to most pages along the lower 4 inches of the spine, not into the text. Chipping along the bottom ½ inch of the first pages.
