About this Item

Correct first edition with the year 1949 present on the title page and the copyright page. There is a Dry Goods Co. stamp atop the front end paper alongside a #1 written in ink; tape ghosts on the end papers, with restoration to the boards where the tape shadows have been removed, thus nearly fine in cream colored buckram boards. The iconic dw has likewise been expertly and professionally restored, but the price was unfortunately lifted during the process; there is still a fragment of the price taped to the inside of the plastic protective sleeve. Still in all, a very attractive copy of one of the cornerstones of any Western literature collection, and the source for the brilliant movie of the same name starring, Alan Ladd, Jean Arthur, Cornell Wilde, and Jack Palance. Rare and uncommon in this condition. Bookseller Inventory # 001844
