About this Item

No, not the studio where George Martin recorded the Beatles, that was Abbey ROAD. Abbe Lane was a hot chanteuse of the '50s, identified most closely with Tito Fuente and Xavier Cugat, to whom she was hitched for a time. This 1964 opus marked her break from the Latin band leader, and an attempt to show she could handle a diversity of other material, from "Some of These Days" to "Call Me Irresponsible" -- from "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" to "Thank Heaven for Little Boys." Design scheme for jacket -- cropping numerous photos of Ms. Lane showing her different "sides" to form a mosaic in the shape of a woman's body -- is famously goofy. At any rate, this is not a book but a 33-1/3 rpm vinyl LP record, Mercury MG 20930, in "Hi-Fidelity," which means "mono," VG-plus in VG-plus, stamped "PROMOTION COPY" and inscribed and signed "Abbe Lane" in blue felt-tip to top rear jacket corner. Reduced from $72. Bookseller Inventory # 002885
