About this Item

Small Oblong Folio. Padded red plastic binding with two gilt plastic badges mounted onto cover. Decorative title-page. Rare catalogue with nearly 400 of 1950's German fashion textile samples. All samples glued or tipped-in with description and order number underneath sample. In 14 categorized tabs (see below *). Sample pages with mounted color reproductions of drawings, b/w photographs, and in-text b/w drawings showing suits and some coats, mostly for men and some women. A special collection of high quality samples of the German textile industry. The selection was conducted with great care considering the material's aptitude for custom clothes, the price, and the dependability of the product. Products which have proven to be successful in the past are included. The descriptive text elaborates on qualities and dependability of the product including special features of the respective material. Next to the mounted color drawings and occasional b/w photographs the text is illustrated with entertaining drawings and decorative designs. Minor age wear and staining on binding. Tabs bend but solid. Binding almost separated from book block, still holding. Front board bowed, paste-down front endpaper creased. Slight offsetting of some samples to opposite page. Empty pocket at rear endpaper which most likely used to hold the price list. One small sample on page 66 missing. Text in German. Overall very good condition.
