"The General" was an English defender who played soccer for Southampton (1943-49) and Tottenham Hotspur (1949-55) and was a member of England's 1950 World Cup squad; one of the greatest managers ever, he led the England national team (1963-74) and under him they won the 1966 FIFA World Cup, which earned him a knighthood; inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame -- twice, as both player and manager, the only person to have done so. Bold signature in black ballpoint, special heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p., dated by him 15 April 1975. Near fine. With original envelope. Nice example of this rather uncommon signature.
