This German-born American photojournalist shot close to 90 "Life" magazine front covers, and is often remembered for his memorable image of a sailor kissing a woman in Times' Square on V-J day. Signed First Day Cover, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Washington, DC on 1971 May 7 and with "First Day of Issue" boldly stamped. Single 16-cent "Ernie Pyle Journalist" stamp at upper right. Fine.
