Title: Signed and Inscribed Original Ink Sketch.
Signed: Signed by Author(s)
This Danish-born American artist grew so enamored with the American West, having worked ranches and even chased Pancho Villa back across the border, that he became a modern recreation of Frederic Remington, painting Western scenes and illustrating Western books, calendars and magazines. Original black ballpoint signed and inscribed sketch, 1p, 6½" X 6", n.p. [Phoeniz, AZ], n.d. [ca. 1960]. Near fine. On heavy lined stock, Wieghorst sketches in right-facing profile a Native American chief in large feather headdress; below this he boldly pens, "Sorry to take up so / much of your space / Your friends Mae & Olaf Wieghorst." Verso bears a second rough draft of an arid Southwestern landscape, also by Wieghorst. A fine, provocative piece. Bookseller Inventory # 39629
