Boston & New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1926. First Edition. 225 pages, folding map of Glacier National Park, 24 plates (few with multiple images) - photographs of the Park are by Hileman, Kalispell, Montana. Illustrated gray cloth stamped in black, reproduced photographic view of the park mounted on upper front cover. Head and foot of spine panel slightly frayed, very good condition, bright, bookplate of Mabel Johnson on front free endpaper, no dj. While a young man, Schultz (1859-1947) moved West and established a trading post at Fort Conrad, Montana, in 1880. In the mid-1880s he spent more time in the region which later became Glacier National Park. Inspired by what he saw, he wrote an article which was published in Forest and Stream, catching the attention of its editor, George Bird Grinnell who visited the area in 1885, and who was later instrumental in establish the park in 1910. Schultz named many of the region's features after clients and friends, and to honor traditional Indian names.; 24 illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 225 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 3680
