Book Description Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1932. Cloth. Book Condition: Good. First American Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. John Galsworthy (1867-1933) received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1932 and had published these books just prior to receiving this greatest honor for a writer of fiction. "The Silver Spoon" (1926) and "Swan Song" (1928) were part of his enormously successful Forsyte Saga, which he began in 1922. The "Flowering Wilderness" (1932) related the family history of the Charwells, cousins of the younger Forsytes. These three books, offered in matching purple cloth bindings by Charles Scribner's Sons, are first American editions. Their condition is generally good. There is slight fabric loss at the top front cover of "The Silver Spoon" and scattered foxing on the early and late toned pages (320 pp.). "Swan Song" has bumped corners and shelf wear at the top of the spine crown. The previous owner's name and date is in ink on the first free end paper. The 360 pages are slightly toned. "Flowering Wilderness" has a dent in the lower front cover, as well as a small tear in the fabric at the juncture of the front board and the spine heel. The 320 pages are slightly tone. All volumes have sunned spines and faded gilt lettering, deckled page edges, minor occasional soiling, storage scent, and minor shelf wear. None have dust jackets. All have tight bindings. All three for $32.95, and will require additional postage. Bookseller Inventory # 000835
