About this Item

This 1850 Bible contains family records of Simeon Upham (March 24, 1816 - Nov. 22, 1902 born in Bremen, Maine) and his wife Mary P. Wonson (Sept. 12, 1829 - Jan. 12. 1896), who were married on Nov. 29, 1845. The entries include the births and deaths of their 3 children: John Wonson Upham (April 2, 1850 - April 1935), Helen W. Upham (Nov. 4, 1852 - Dec. 27, 1934), and Ida M. Upham (Jan. 28, 1855 - Sept. 14, 1942). The marriage of Helen W. Upham to Elbridge G. Friend was on August 3, 1876. Their 2 children - Alice P. Friend was born on June 17, 1879, and Weston Upham Friend was born on June 13, 1887. John Upham married Eduto(?) M. Thomao (Edith M. Thomas) on Oct. 31, 1882. Elbridge G. Friend died on May 5, 1928. Edith M. Thomas died in July 1928. From other sources I find that Simeon and Mary P. Upham's children were born in Gloucester, Mass., and that Simeon Upham was the son of John Upham (1781 - 1837) and his wife Sally Weston, born in 1781. The Bible is in poor condition, lacking both covers together with the endpapers and the title page, and the last pages of the Concordance at the back. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
