Synopsis:

Text in Italian. Sironi 1885-1961 was an Italian painter, illustrator and sculptor. He became involved in the early 20th century Futurist movement and contributed illustrations to the Socialist journal L' Avanti della Domenica. Becoming involved in the Fascist movement, he served as caricaturist and illustrator for Mussolini's official press. After World War II and the end of the Fascist regime, he turned to the Informal Abstract see www.guggenheim.venice.it, the website of the Guggenheim Museum, Venice . Frontispiece photograph of Sironi. This catalogue of Sironi's illustrations includes sections on periodicals/journals and catalogues and books. 87 color plates, 2298 black and white illustrations. Introductory comments by the authors, the catalogue of Sironi's works, four appendices, and a bibliography.
