About this title

(YA Duet) SKATEBOARD BLUES: Jessica Williams wishes she were anywhere other than her small town in Oregon. All the kids there are the same except for the few skateboarders who her father can not stand. Life is pretty dull for Jessica until Cam Easton moves into her neighborhood. A STAR FOR COURAGE: Brash, determined 13-year-old Katie Bradshaw stumbles into the middle of a life-threatening adventure when she, with false bravado, tries to show her classmates that she doesn't care whether or not they accept her.

About the Author:

Elizabeth C. Main, author of A Star for Courage. The High Desert country east of the Cascade Mountains in Oregon is my home. The stark volcanic landscape--adorned by sagebrush, juniper, and wide-open spaces--calls to me like no other location. It's not an accident that all my novels have Oregon settings.
My mysteries are loosely based on years of experience working at an independent bookstore in Bend. I drew inspiration for a romance novel after living in Fossil. The idea for a juvenile novel came during a beach walk on the Oregon coast.
I live in idyllic Bend, Oregon.

Sydell Voeller, author of Skateboard Blues. I grew up in Washington State, but have lived in Oregon for over thirty years.  Throughout my twenty-plus years writing career, my published novels for teens and adults have reflected my love for the Pacific Northwest's ocean beaches, inlets and waterways, evergreen forests, and mountains. I live in Oregon with my husband. We have two grown sons, two lovely daughters-in-law, plus three grandchildren.  Pet lovers, we have provided a home for several cats, a dog, gerbils, hamsters, and a turtle--but not all at the same time! A small rodent cemetery still occupies one corner of our backyard. We enjoy camping, reading, playing Scrabble, day trips to the Oregon coast, and spending time with our grand-kids and pampered feline. When I'm  not writing, I enjoy camping,  amateur astronomy, reading, and surfing the web. In 1987 after the publication of my first novel, I was named by the Washington County Mushaw Center, Woman of the Year in Communications.  Formerly a registered nurse, I now teach writing correspondence courses, sponsored by the Long Ridge Writer's Institute in West Redding, Connecticut.
