The Author's account of himself in front of book. Sketch-Book contains 30 essays including: The Voyage;Roscoe; Rip Van Winkle; A Royal Poet; Rural funerals; Christmas; The Stage Coach; Little Britain; John bull the Angler; The legend of Sleepy Hollow, etc. Pages yellowed and foxed; writing on few pages; First few pages are excised from book; Weakened inner spine creases in front and back, exposing inner fabric of binding. Ad for the Argyle Press in back of book. Tan hard cover with orange black designs and border; black lettering on front and spine. Cover edges and corners frayed. Spine cover fragile with approximately one inch near top torn, exposing inner fabric of binding. A very rare, vintage book for collectors of 19th century authors.
