The plates are wood engravings, 13 being either portraits or recreations of scenes from events in the lives of Brownlow and his acquaintances, and the 14th being wood-engraved facsimile of a document. Small 8vo. 458 pp., [4] ff. (ads)., 14 plts. Sabin 8705. Publisher's textured charcoal cloth; strip of black tape at top of spine. Some chipping to the brittle book cloth.
