Slave Ship (Galaxy Science Fiction, March 1956)

Full-color illustrated wraps by EMSH, who also illustrates "Slave Ship" (and delightfully so, combining b/w photo-illustrations of the hero -- an army lieutenant, in uniform -- and cows -- yes, cows -- with drawings of spaceships both aerial and nautical). Text block age-toned and brittle, with a few small chips here and there along the fore-edge, but not affecting text. Otherwise fine. Campy sci-fi pulp, this issue includes two novelets (one of which is "A Gun for Dinosaur" by L. Sprague de Camp, wonderfully illustrating just what happens when you vex a T. Rex), two short stories, and Part 1 (of 3) of the aforementioned "Slave Ship" (which takes place in Boca Raton and Miami, Florida, and which -- it's worth mentioning again -- involves cows). Even a quick flip-through yields little gems of kitsch: "Don't Kid Your Id! Even Moses Had Neuroses!" Good quality wackiness. Bookseller Inventory # D4682
