George F. Robertson, SC. Reminiscences of boyhood in Greeneville, TN, Wytheville, VA, and Asheville, NC during the Civil War. Robertson was born in Greeneville in 1853, where his father was a newspaper editor ("The Greeneville Democrat", later "The Southern Banner"). When the war broke out, his father was appointed Post Quartermaster at Greenville with the commission of captain. When Greenville was captured by the Yankees, his father managed to get the family moved safely to Wytheville. There, his father served as a quartermaster until he and his command were ordered to Asheville where the Robertsons stayed until the end of the war. Good copy of the second edition. The books front and back cover are very bright, the spine shows some wear. There is wear to the spine s tabs and front hinge is just starting. 122 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 39347
