Signed twice on free front endpapers: Edward Ruscha in ink on first, Ed Ruscha in pencil on second front free endpaper. 1/3000 unnumbered. Small Octavo. Unpaginated. Wraps in original glassine. Minor discoloration to glassine, protected bu modern mylar. Slight chipping and one tiny closed tear to top edge of glassine. A painter, printmaker, and filmmaker, Edward Ruscha was born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1937. He moved to Los Angeles in the early 1950's where he studied at the Chouinard Art Institute from 1956 - 1960. By the early sixties he had made a name for himself and was well known for his collages, paintings and printmaking, and for his association with the Ferrus Gallery group. Later on he achieved recognition for his paintings incorporating words and phrases and for his many photographic books, all influenced by the deadpan irreverence of the Pop Art movement. Magnificently illustrated with 16 reproductions of photographs, 15 in duotone and 1 in b/w. Glassine in very good, book in fine condition. Bookseller Inventory #
