About this title

Synopsis:

Follows the travels of a tiny stone as it journeys throughout Nantucket Island

About the Author:

Marcia Trimble makes her picture book debut with The Smiling Stone. She has always chosen books to be the tools of her life, as a graduate of Boston University in the field of American literature, as an early childhood reading specialist, and now as a writer. One of her greatest joys was teaching her daughter Malinda, now a UCLA theater student, to read at the age of three. She vacationed on Nantucket Island with her family for many years, after honeymooning there. The Smiling Stone weaves together her love of childrens books, writing, and Nantucket. She lives in Los Altos Hills, California with her three dogs and two cats.

Susan Arciero is an illustrator who specializes in children's magazines and picture books. Her previous works include Nat, Nat, the Nantucket Cat, Martha's Vineyard, and Cornelius Vandermouse, the Pride of Newport. A native of Massachusetts, Susan graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. She and her husband Eric were married on Nantucket and always find a smile there when they return. They currently live in Maryland with their black dog, Jake.
