About this title
Academicians, especially law school professors, are not likely to be amused by this bitingly funny portrayal of the male establishment's machinations against tenure for Rebecca Shepard at prestigious, fictional, McKinley Law School. It's not just that she's a woman; she's a reformer who decries the nonpreparation aspiring lawyers receive. Students "study contracts, but they never see an actual contract." Profs spend more time consulting, writing books students must buy, and accepting sexual favors than in teaching. A farcical plot with caricatured characters ties this first novel together. The message is as clear as the writing. Recommended. Marion Hanscom, SUNY at Binghamton Lib.
