Sprinkle Publications, VA. This work covers the pre-war, war and post war career of Ellison Capers. A reprint of the 1912 book. Krick says, "Biography the South Carolina Confederate who was wounded at Jackson, Mississippi and led the 24th South Carolina Infantry at Chickamauga. He fought at Franklin and was appointed brigadier general in March of 1865, succeeding States Rights Gist as brigade commander." Capers also fought at Vicksburg and was eventually captured at Bentonville, NC. After the war he became an Episcopal minister. About a third of this biography covers Caper's military career.
