Leather-backed paper boards with manuscript titles; approx. pp. 25, handwritten throughout. The notebook of Benjamin Brooks Ockington (1831-1909), born to Benjamin Bird Ockington and Sarah Force Sawyer, in Stratford Hollow, Coos County, New Hampshire. He married Rhoda Ann Wright and had 4 children. Entries are dated 1852-1867, and include an ode to New England, "The Sword of Bunker Hill," "The Sleigh Ride," and more. All entries but one -- entitled "Annie of the Vale," contributed by J. C. Wright -- are in Brooks' florid script. A unique piece of Americana, collecting patriotic verse. Bookseller Inventory # D3707
