Not a book but a 10-inch, 33-1/3 rpm vinyl disc, Decca Long Play Microgroove unbreakable DL 5106, near-mint vinyl in a near-mint cardboard jacket. Features Waltzing Matilda, Go Tell Aunt Rhody, Johnnie with the Bandy Legs (South African), Ihashe (Zulu), etc. Marais, who collected and translated the songs, was South African, his singing partner and bride was Dutch; they met in the United States when he served as chief of the South African Desk of the Office of War Information in New York, and the young Nederlander offered her services as a translator for war news being broadcast to South Africa in Afrikaans.
