With numerous splendid full-page plates, several in color, of African Americans of the Old South to illustrate the verses of Howard Weeden. Autographed by the author: "Yours sincerely, Howard Weeden" in black ink on the half-title page. A very good copy bound in vertically-ribbed gray cloth with a paste-down illustration of a cotton plant on the front boards. Bright gilt lettering on the front boards as welll. Gilt lettering dulled on the spine. With the ink inscription "Elizabeth, with love from Julia. 1st day of the XXth Century." on the front moire patterned endpaper. With wear and bumping to the extremities. And soiling to the front and rear boards. Bookseller Inventory # 5002
