About the Author:

As a lay minister and counselor at the Larry Smith Correctional facility in Banning, California, Herb Bridgman found ILLITERACY and THE LACK OF POSITIVE, EARLY CHILDHOOD VALUES to be THE MOST COMMON HANDICAP OF PRISONERS. This insight, combined with his love of music and songwriting, led him to the creation of a positive resource for young people during their emergent years in reading and character development. As a member of the Society of Children's Book writers and Illustators, a student of the Institute of Children's literature, and a tutor for students with reading difficulties, Bridgman decided on a proactive style of writing that integrates music, to help the reader remember what they learned and encourage them to apply it in practical ways. Color coded footnotes are included in Bridgman's books, to help the reader understand difficult words or concepts.
