12mo (6 1/2 x 4 1/4"). VIII, 102, [2]pp. Contemporary gilt-stamped blue morocco, with gold lettering to spine. All edges gilt. Binding signed by J. B. Hawes, Cambridge. Upper margin of fly leaf inscribed by the author to S. Chaplin, and dated Sept. 1864. This first edition of "Sonnets" is the first published work of Charles Turner (1808-1879), an English poet whose younger brother is none other than Alfred Tennyson. Some rubbing and age-toning along edges of binding. Moderate foxing to very first and very last leaves. Binding in overall good-, interior in good to very good condition. Seller Inventory # 41497
