About this title

Nothing excites or captivates the wonderful, imaginative, and young minds of boys in their adolescence that compares to the thought of being a pilot or future astronaut.

Growing up together since an early age, Andy Stevens and Wade Hamilton come from different family dynamics filled with love, support, and sometimes oppression. Aided with the distinction of having genius IQ’s, they have an easy time sailing through high school as well as gaining appointments to the United States Naval Academy, where drama follows them from their homes in Dallas, all the way to the Executive Suites of the White House.

Acceptance to Naval Flight Training fulfills childhood dreams, and allows the development of young boys to become men, with the ability to handle situations on almost any level, and avoid temptations relevant to the women they leave behind. War quickly comes to the forefront, as the ongoing Vietnam era casts its ugly ballot, and propels young hearts to the acceptance of a grim reality that freedom in American is paid for with the blood from its youth, and the selfless actions from within their souls.

For these two childhood best friends, faith allows their lifelong bond to help them survive the challenges of personal betrayals, the validity of military life, and events after their final landings are accomplished. All with the knowledge that the afterlife soon awaits them in the distant horizon...

From, Rita G at Readers Favorite Book Reviews "Randy Mitchell has skillfully crafted, shaped and developed an excellent plot. The characters are nimbly fashioned from words that give them flesh and blood. I found myself in tears as I read certain sections of the book. The plot brings out readers' emotions. I suggest having a cup of tea, a plate of scones and a box of tissues close at hand before you start reading. The tea will assist in replenishing your hydration caused by crying so much. The tissues will help keep the eyes clear enough to see the print and the scones are just because they are my favorite."
