81 page Catalogue Of; Exceedingly Rare and Valuable AMERICANA, With Some Important English Books and Manuscripts. From the Library of HENRY PERCY 9th Earl of Northumberland 1564-1632 at PETWORTH HOUSE and sold by his Descendant, the then present Rt Hon Lord Beconsfield. Held over 2 days Monday & Tuesday 23rd & 24th April 1928. 172 lots on 81 pages with 39 full page monochrome plates and two in colour. The preface states that there are 76 manuscripts, liturgical, geographical or historical from the 13th to 17the century. Of the remaining printed books all but 6 are English, with 84 printed before 1610 and 29 printed before 1640 dealing with the Americas and it's colonization. The condition is Very good + with a little age browning at edges and some light wear and a small closed split at base of spine. Printed on cream stock by The Dryden Press, uncut edges. Folding plates. VG+ Priced with added prices in auction house employee's hand at each lot after descriptions. Seller Inventory # 3962

We have been operating on and off since 1977 and our stock is varied, leaning towards antiquarian and 19th century with the addition of original aquatint and lithographic, or woodcut engravings. Also maps and Ephemera - in fact, anything interesting on paper really. We have in stock every item we list. We do not use stock photographs, but photograph each item individually. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
